Livestock is also an important source of livelihood although local cattle dominate the livestock population.
Sombaykha has the maximum land area in the dzongkhag suitable for paddy cultivation. The main crops cultivated are paddy, wheat, buckwheat, oilseeds, etc. Cardamom is the only cash- earning crop grown but there exists the potential for oranges production if market access is provided through the construction of roads.
It is also the remotest gewog in the dzongkhag taking four days to reach from the dzongkhag headquarters. Its remoteness and the rugged terrain make the delivery of development services difficult and costly.
Sombaykha is the second largest gewog in the Ha dzongkhag
