Lomba

During Lomba families get together in their village and treated themselves to a good meal. People make their special dish called Hontey and distribute to their friends and relatives.  Men also played an archery match and other traditional games. Lomba is an important occasion for the people of Haa and in the olden days they considered the day as New Year. It is also a time when all crops have been harvested and people get some free time before they begin their work again. People sing Lolay Lolay rhyme; thank god for the good year they had and make wishes for the New Year. During that people greet each other Lolay, meaning good new year. They perform a small ceremony at home to drive of the evil and bring in the health, happiness and prosperity for New Year.
